YMCA’s Student Care Program Donates to Toy Drive
EAST WENATCHEE, WA – The YMCA Student Care Program has been busy collecting toys at Cascade Elementary School in East Wenatchee. Program Director Brogan Foster gathered the kids together early this morning for toy pick-up day. . .
YMCA Student Care Program is Mornings & Afternoons
Foster said, “we have programs here at Cascade Elementary School and Grant Elementary School. We serve all the elementary schools in the Eastmont School District. We have a program at Sunnyslope Elementary School. It’s actually kindergarten through 13-years old that we serve here. Other schools are bused here. We’ll dismiss them based on their bus times. They’ll go straight to school and then they’ll come back here in the afternoon.” Foster said, “we do crafts. We do STEM (Science, Technology, English & Math)and SPARK and active games as well as staff-directed activities.”
The YMCA Student Care Program provides options for parents of children who need a place for them to stay when school is out of session. Foster says some of their regular kids will be with them throughout the day, all next week.
“We’re very thankful to be a part of this.” – Brogan Foster
Foster says, “here at the Y, we’re all about the community. We’re all about serving those who are a little less fortunate than some. We just want to give all of this box (Toy Drive donation box) to anyone who needs it and we’re very thankful to be a part of this.”
The Les Schwab Community Toy Drive concludes with collection events at Hooked On Toys this weekend.
