STEVENS PASS- The first major snowfall of the season triggered traction tire advisories on some Cascades passes this morning.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Brian Moore described the scene as he drove up US 2 Stevens Pass this morning.

“It is snowing up on Steven’s Pass this morning, we’re expecting four to 10 inches of snow throughout the day,” Moore said. “The Washington State Patrol does want to remind drivers that we need to slow down and make sure we have a good set of winter tires. Winter is here, they need to be prepared for ever-changing conditions on the pass.”

Around 6:30 a.m. a semi driver ended up in the ditch on Stevens Pass after driving too fast for road conditions. Trooper Moore said the incident caused minor delays as crews worked to clear the scene.

“The main message for today is winter is here up in the passes, drivers need to be prepared for changing conditions,” Moore said.
