Strong winds downed a tree and power lines on Lake Wenatchee Highway Wednesday morning, knocking out power to 260 Chelan PUD customers and forcing closure of the highway.

The highway is expected to be closed most of Wednesday, according to Chelan County Public Works.

PUD crews had power restored in the north shore area by 3:15 p.m.

The downed tree is about a mile past Brown Road and motorists are being advised to avoid the area and use North Shore Road instead.
