Moses Lake Shuts Out Wenatchee, Puts Pressure on 1st
Things just got very interesting atop the Big 9 girls soccer standings as we head to the Les Schwab Prep Scoreboard from last night…
Moses Lake came into Lee Bofto Field at the Apple Bowl last night and handed the Wenatchee Panthers a 3-nil defeat. It’s only Wenatchee’s second loss in league play this season, but both came at the hands of the Chiefs. The win improved Moses Lake to 7-and-2 while the Panthers fell to 8-and-2.
Meanwhile, Eastmont kept pace by shutting out Sunnyside on the road 4-nil. The win improved the Wildcat’s record to 7-and-3. Wenatchee swept the season series from Eastmont, so the Panthers have the advantage there. The regular season title will be determined over the final two games for Moses Lake and Wenatchee.
Also last night, Cascade remained unbeaten in CTL play with a 6-nil win over Okanogan.
Dodgers Win 13-Inning Marathon Over Brewers
As a kid playing an imaginary game in the back yard, you always dream up the scenario: Tie game. Bottom of the 9th. A 3-2 count. And you’re at the plate. The Dodger’s Cody Bellinger lived the reality of that dream last night in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series…only it was the bottom of the 13th!
With Manny Machado at second base and two outs, Bellinger ripped a single to right field that allowed Machado to score the winning run and Los Angeles tied the NLCS 2-games apiece. Bellinger ended up 2-for-4 on the night as 7 Brewer pitchers held the Dodgers to 7-hits over 13-innings with 17-strikeouts.
The game went well after 11 o’clock last night so the two teams turn around on short rest today for Game 5 at 2:05 this afternoon. Game 4 of the A-L-C-S is today at 5:39 in Houston where the Red Sox lead 2-1 after pounding out an 8-2 win yesterday, highlighted by Jackie Bradley Junior’s grand slam home run.
The Seahawks Were Headed to California…Until
21-years ago, Ken Bering bought the Seahawks and was moving the team to Anaheim with the NFL’s blessing. The City of Seattle and Seahawks supporters moved quickly to devise a plan to stop that from happening. In the center of it all was Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. He stepped up to buy the team and build a new stadium, but not without the public’s help…
Thanks to Seahawks dot com for the video. We’ll have more on the building of a new stadium tomorrow in our tribute to Paul Allen.
