Wild to Face Dukes in Semifinals

The Wenatchee Wild have chosen the 2pm game for Saturday and will face Wellington once again in the semifinals of the RBC Cup. As we look at the latest from the RBC Cup…

Chilliwack earned the #2 seed by downing Steinbach last night 4-1. The Chiefs will face Ottawa, the #3 seed, in Saturday’s other semifinal at 7pm. The winners of the two Saturday games will play for the RBC Cup Championship Sunday at 4pm.

State Baseball Tournaments This Weekend

Let’s take a look at the Prep Schedule for the weekend, first in baseball…

The State 2B Tournament is tomorrow in Yakima as Brewster faces St. George’s at 1 o’clock in a first round game.

The 1A State Tournament is at Moses Lake for Cashmere and Chelan. The Bulldogs face Naches Valley at 10am in the first round game while Chelan takes on Connell at 1 o’clock. The winners of the first two games will play in the quarterfinals at 4pm.

Wenatchee and Moses Lake travel to Spokane for their first round State 4A games tomorrow. The Panthers take on Chiawana at 10am with the Chiefs playing Mead at 1pm. The winners of the first two games face off in the quarterfinals at 4pm, all at University High School.

Softball Teams Head to District Tournies

Area softball teams are just getting to their district tournaments…

Wenatchee hosts West Valley today at 5 o’clock at Walla Walla Point Park. Eastmont awaits today’s winner tomorrow in Moses Lake for the Big 9 District’s final day at 1 o’clock. The winner of THAT game will face Moses Lake for the District Title at 3pm.

Chelan is on the road at Chewelah tomorrow at 1 o’clock for the CTL/NEA Crossover game. The winner goes on to state while the loser’s season is over.

And the District 5/6 2B Tournament is at Moses Lake. Brewster, Liberty Bell and Lake Roosevelt are all participating in that as the Bears face Tri-Cities Prep at 10am.

Eastmont Faces Mt. Vernon in Quarterfinal

Eastmont’s in the quarterfinals of the State 4A Soccer Tournament tomorrow…

They’ll face Mt. Vernon at 1 o’clock tomorrow afternoon at Lee Bofto Field at the Apple Bowl. We’ve received a few calls asking if we’re broadcasting the game, and the answer is no, simply because we don’t have enough personnel on short notice to do it.

District Track and Tennis Also Saturday

It’s the home stretch for other district tournaments this weekend as well…

The District 6 4A Track Meet resumes tomorrow morning at West Valley High School. And the 1A District Tennis Tournament for the Caribou Trail League is tomorrow morning at 10 at Omak.

State Playoffs Loom for Wenatchee Clubs

There are a couple big games for local club teams tomorrow…

The Wenatchee Valley Thunder will face Tahoma at Maple Valley Middle School tomorrow night at 7 o’clock in the State 4A quarterfinals.

Also, earlier in the day in Tacoma, Schoolhouse Rugby Club will face Yakima for the State Championship at 11:30am.

Twin 50’s Highlight Weekend at WVSO

That’s not all that’s going on this weekend…

The Raider Rumble Men’s Softball Tournament is tomorrow and Sunday at Walla Walla Point Park.

There’s a Youth Bike Rodeo tomorrow morning starting at 9am at the Eastmont Aquatic Center.

Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval is hosting the Late Model Twin 50’s tomorrow night at WVSO. The night will features Wesco Sprint Cars, Thunder Hobby Stocks, Vintage Modifieds and Roadrunners. Gates will open at 5 o’clock.

There are a couple runs tomorrow that both begin at 9am. First, it’s the Girls on the Run of Columbia Valley at Pybus Market. Then it’s Miles for Mia at Walla Walla Point Park. Both are 5K’s.

Vincent Blows Lead in 8th, Tigers Beat M’s

Julio Iglesias’ 2-run single in the 8th gave Detroit a come-from-behind 3-2 win over the Mariners last night at Safeco Field…

Nick Vincent blew the save opportunity, allowing the 2-runs on 3-hits in the 8th. Guillermo Heredia was the hitting star for the Mariners with a 3-for-4 night and an RBI. Seattle batters struck out 14 times in last night’s ballgame. The two teams will play again tonight at 7:10 with Michael Fulmer facing Felix Hernandez.
