(Wenatchee, WA)…The Wenatchee Wild, after suffering its first three game losing streak on the road last weekend, are on a two game winning streak after downing Chilliwack Wednesday at the Town Toyota Center 5-3.
Matt Baker gave the Wild the early lead by lighting the lamp at the 8:45 mark of the 1st period. Troy Conzo put Wenatchee up 2-nil just a minute into the second period. Justin Dixson cut the lead to 2-1 for the visitors with a goal 56-seconds later.
In the third, Connor McCarthy started the scoring in a wild period at the 3:08 mark to tie it at 2-2. Wenatchee went back out on top 3-2 on Jasper Weatherby’s goal at 8:55. Lucas Sowder and Brian Williams followed with goals 8 and 10-minutes later to put Wenatchee up 5-2. Jake Smith tallied one for Chilliwack just before the buzzer, but it wasn’t enough as the Wild defeated the Chiefs 5-3. The win avenged a road loss at Chilliwack a week ago.
Wenatchee and Chilliwack are tied with 39points to lead the BCHL’s Mainland Division. The Wild host Vernon tonight at 7 o’clock and then welcome West Kelowna in for a Saturday match at 7.
