WENATCHEE- More excellent economic news came Wednesday after a report shows the Wenatchee unemployment rate dropped substantially from December 2016 to December 2017.
According to the Employment Security Department, the County-level employment figures and unemployment rate dropped from 6.7-percent in December of 2016 to 5.9-percent in December of 2017.
In fact, the December 2017 unemployment rate for the Wenatchee Metropolitan Statistical Area or MSA is the lowest reading for the month of December since electronic records were implemented in 1990, 27 years ago.
The construction industry provided 300 more jobs over the past year, a 12.5-percent upturn. Meanwhile, between December 2016 and December 2017, non-farm employment dipped from 44,100 jobs to 43,900.
The report also showed that unemployment rates have been declining in the Wenatchee MSA for the past 14 consecutive months.
