Wenatchee swimmers and divers take 4th at State


Wenatchee takes 4th at Swim & Dive State Meet

FEDERAL WAY, WA – Wenatchee’s Connor Elwyn is a State Champion in the 100 backstroke and the 100 freestyle and helped the Panthers take 4th in the team competition…
Teammates Christi Cutter was 4th in the 100 breastroke and Trystyn Geren took 7th in diving. Eastmont’s Evan VanderSluis was 6th in the 100 breastroke. Wenatchee’s relay teams took 4th in the 200 Medley and 200 Free.

Wenatchee Coach James Elwyn was selected the 4A Coach of the Year.  The following is a recap directly from Coach Elwyn:

“Wow, what a great weekend of swimming and diving for our team! We are so proud of our boys and the achievements this weekend.
Here is a quick run down:
200 Yard Medley Relay – 3rd Place, 1:35.24, school record; Connor Elwyn, Christian Cutter, Andreas Broxson & Ian Walsh;

50 Yard Adaptive Swim – Danny George 8th place;

200 Yard IM – Tage Madson 12th Place, 1:59.35;

1 Meter Diving – Tristyn Geren 7th Place & Jaxon Cosina 9th Place;

50 Yard Adaptive Back Stroke – Danny George 8th Place;

100 Yard Freestyle – Connor Elwyn 1st Place, School Record of 45.80 & Ian Walsh 14th Place;

500 Yard Freestyle – Simon Madson 12th Place (4:52.51) & Cameron Wheeler 15th Place (4:54.17);

200 Yard Freestyle Relay – 4th Place, New School Record time of 1:26.95: Connor Elwyn (21.16 lead off school record), Christian Cutter (21.82), Andreas Broxson(22.17) & Ian Walsh(21.80);

100 Yard Backstroke – Connor Elwyn 1st Place, 50.43, All-American Consideration Time & New School Record;

100 Yard Breaststroke – Christian Cutter 4th Place (57.82) & Tage Madson 10th Place (59.75);

400 Yard Freestyle Relay – 8th Place: Ian Walsh, Christian Cutter, Andreas Broxson & Cameron Wheeler.

Team Scores: Skyline – 271, Curtis – 251, Newport – 185, Wenatchee – 182, Kamiak – 178, Moses Lake 141, Issaquah – 128, Hanford – 121, Camas – 110. 44 Schools participated!”
