17 Year Old Wenatchee Stabbing Suspect Formally Charged


Formal criminal charges were filed Thursday afternoon against a teen accused in the stabbing of a jogger Monday afternoon in Wenatchee.  Chelan County Prosecutor, Doug Shae says he charged 17 year old Cameron Hodges with felony first degree assault with a deadly weapon. If convicted he could be sentenced to life in prison. Shae says Hodges will be tried as an adult. .

Wenatchee Police Captain Edgar Reinfeld says the victim was treated for several stab wounds but has since been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home. Reinfeld described Cameron as a run away who had been wandering the streets since November 30th.  Shae says the suspect was also in possession of brass knuckles but had stated he didn’t intend to use them.

Police say the suspect assaulted the woman as she jogged off the bridge. After the stabbing he waited at the scene until police arrived. He was arrested without a struggle. He reportedly told officers he was tired of living in the street and wanted to be arrested.
