Panther Softball Team Qualifies for District

WENATCHEE, WA – The Wenatchee Panther girls softball team lives to fight another day after beating up Davis last night 18-to-6. The Panthers will host West Valley Friday at 5 after the Rams bounced Eisenhower from the district tournament yesterday 8-5.

Cashmere had a great road trip to Chewelah, knocking off the Cougars 12-to-4. Okanogan beat Colville 6-2 in the other CTL/NEA Crossover game. That sets up round one of the State 1A tournament Saturday in Moses Lake with Cashmere facing Naches Valley at 10am. CTL District Champ Chelan faces Connell at Moses Lake at 1pm.

Had the smaller schools falling to the bigger schools as Wahluke blanked Bridgeport 2-0 and Brewster got beat on the road by Royal 1-nil.

Wenatchee Boys, Eastmont Girls Win District Golf Titles

The Wenatchee boys are the District Champs in golf with a 2-day, combined team score of 633 at Apple Tree Golf Course. West Valley was second, 9-shots back and Eastmont 3rd at 663. And on the girl’s side, Eastmont edged Wenatchee by 2-strokes to win its first District Golf Title since 2007. Congratulations to all!

It’s the first round of the State 4A Soccer tournament for the Eastmont Wildcats as they take on Walla Walla at Lee Bofto Field at the Apple Bowl. They kick it off at 6 o’clock tonight.

Seattle won the seesaw battle despite blowing a three run lead in the 6th and a chance to win it in the 9th. Jean Segura went 3-for-5 with 3-runs and an RBI. Mitch Haniger, hitting 3rd in the lineup for Robinson Cano, also went 3-for-5 with 2-RBI’s. Seattle and Texas wrap up the quick, two game series with a day game today at 12:40. The ageless Bartolo Colon gets the start for the Rangers while Seattle gives a spot-start to Christian Bergman.

Robinson Cano Suspended 80 Games for PED

The Mariners received some shocking news prior to the ballgame last night that second baseman Robinson Cano has been suspended by Major League Baseball for 80-games for failing a drug test. According to General Manager Jerry Dipoto, Cano admitted to taking a diet suppressant and apologized to his team and fans. Cano left Sunday’s game in Detroit with a broken bone in his right hand and was expected to miss quite a bit of action. This latest news came as a shock to everyone in baseball.
