The Wenatchee School District board met in special session yesterday afternoon to discuss the superintendent search firm contract.
The board voted to approve the proposed $21,000-dollar contract to Hazzard, Young, Attea and Associates from Illinois to conduct the search to replace retiring superintendent Brian Flones. Monday’s action comes amid board members Laura Jaecks and Walter Newman calling for a delay in hiring a search firm because in their words, the other school board members overstepped their bounds in the search process. They suggested an interim superintendent be hired until members of the school board work out their issues. Brian Flones announced earlier this year that he was retiring from the post.
