CASHMERE – The 16th annual Wenatchee River Bluegrass Festival returns this weekend to the Chelan County Expo Center in Cashmere.
“We have a unique situation here that we don’t have as much bluegrass as they have in the southeast,” said event organizer Chuck Egner. “There’s a festival every weekend within 50 miles of each other. Out here, [the bands] get a packed audience of people that are staring at them and listening to them. In the southeast a lot of people are talking, yaking, because they see this all the time. And it’s still a good party and the bands get paid, but here, they are listened to. And these bands really want to be listened to.”
The festival has an extraordinary lineup: Flatt Lonesome, Alan Bibey & Grasstowne, Special Consensus, The Kody Norris Show, Old Growth Quartet and Rusty Hinges Bluegrass.
The festival runs Friday through Sunday and includes workshops, jam sessions, potlucks, food, drinks and various vendors. Camping is available on a first come first serve basis. For more information visit: www.wenatcheeriverbluegrass.com
