A Wenatchee man who assaulted a convenience store worker in the process of stealing alcohol and candy bars must serve probation and undergo substance abuse treatment.

Dale Richard Alderman, 22, pleaded guilty to second-degree theft and third-degree assault for the New Year’s Day incident, in which he struggled with a clerk who tried to detain him.

Chelan County Judge Travis Brandt sentenced him Wednesday to three to six months in residential drug treatment, plus two years on supervision.
