State troopers say one person was killed Wednesday morning in a three-car crash in Douglas County.
It happened around 6:30 AM on State Route 28 at milepost 4 about 3 miles east of East Wenatchee.
Michael Troy Ashbrook, 55, of Wenatchee was killed when he tried to pass another car in a no-pass zone and then struck another vehicle, the Washington State Patrol said.
Ashbrook was driving west when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone, the State Patrol said.
Apparently, to avoid an oncoming vehicle he drove next to the car he was passing, spun and was struck on the right side by the oncoming vehicle, troopers said.
Both vehicles came to a rest on the eastbound shoulder.
The accident caused traffic delays for much of the morning, with two vehicles ending up on the eastbound shoulder of the road and another on the westbound shoulder.
Injured in the crash was 44-year old Tyson Joe Chick of Wenatchee who was transported by ambulance to Central Washington Hospital.
