Wenatchee police say a man crushed and killed two six-week-old kittens last week during a domestic violence incident.

Markos Avilez Espinoza, 29, allegedly stepped on one of the small animals and kicked the other against a wall, while a family member hid from him in another room. Police said when they arrived at his home in the 200 block of North Garfield Avenue last Wednesday, they found he’d also broken out a window in a family member’s truck. He was allegedly angry over images that were accidentally deleted from his phone.

Prosecutors charged Espinoza with two counts of first-degree animal cruelty and one of third-degree malicious mischief. He’s jailed on $25,000 bond, and barred from contact with others in his household until his case goes to trial.
