Wenatchee’s 3-2 Win over Cats Solidifies Lead

EAST WENATCHEE, WA – Wenatchee won a see-saw battle with Eastmont to take over 1st place in the Big 9 soccer standings last night in East Wenatchee by a score of 3-to-2…
Madysen Smith would open up the scoring for the Panthers in the 20th minute but Eastmont would tie it before half on a goal by Jayden Brown. Isabel Pelayo (puh-LIE-oh) would strike in the first minute of the second half and Wenatchee would try to pull away, but Eastmont would not relent.

Wenatchee improved to 8-and-1 in conference with the win while the Wildcats dropped to 6-and-3 with the loss. In other soccer action last night, Cashmere blanked Okanogan 2-nil. Cascade had no trouble with Omak, winning 12-nothing. And Bridgeport edged Manson 1-nil.

Wenatchee Beats Sunnyside, Eastmont Falls to Rams

On the Les Schwab prep volleyball scoreboard last night…
Wenatchee defended its home court with a 3-1 win over Sunnyside. West Valley remained unbeaten with a 3-0 win over Eastmont. Cascade edged Omak 3-2 and Cashmere topped Okanogan 3-games-to-2.

Features the Eastmont Wildcats and Sunnyside Grizzlies. Both teams are 2-and-oh in Big 9 play trying to keep pace with the 3-and-oh Wenatchee Panthers. Sunnyside has an explosive offense, averaging nearly 32-points per game. But they’re also allowing 24-points per contest.

Saturday Soccer Around the Region

On the Soccer Schedule for tomorrow…
Cascade hosts Kiona-Benton at 11am while Manson’s at Davenport tomorrow at Noon. Also, just a reminder that the HUGE Apple Cup Soccer Tournament will be all weekend at Walla Walla Point Park.

Wenatchee Invite Volleyball Tournament is Saturday

On the volleyball slate tomorrow…
Manson and Cashmere are at the Ephrata Invite at 8am. Wenatchee High School is the place for the big Wenatchee Invite with 13 other schools in town for that beginning tomorrow morning at 8 o’clock. And in league play tomorrow night, Waterville-Mansfield is at Liberty Bell at 6:30.

There’s a cross country meet today in Oroville…
With Cashmere and four other schools starting at 4pm.

And in the pool at Wenatchee…
The Panthers are hosting an 11-dive meet beginning today at Noon.

Wild Host Nanaimo in Home-Opener Tonight

Don’t forget, the Wenatchee Wild celebrate their 2018-19 home opener tonight at the Town Toyota Center…
The Nanaimo Clippers are in town with all the pre-game festivities beginning at around 6:30.

#7 Washington Plays at #17 Oregon Saturday

In college football this weekend…
Washington State has a bye while the #7 Washington Huskies travel to take on #17 Oregon tomorrow at 12:30. That game can be seen on ABC. Eastern Washington is on the road at Weber State tomorrow afternoon at 3:05. And Central Washington will use the sparkling new lights once again at Tomlinson Field as Western Oregon comes to town at 6pm.

Seahawks Set to Face Oakland in London Sunday

The Seahawks are taking in some tea and crumpets today in London…
Preparing for their Sunday morning game against the Raiders. Seattle is 2-and-3 while Oakland is 1-and-4 under John Gruden. Sunday’s game on FOX kicks off at 10am our time, 6pm in London.

And, of course, the Major League Championship Series get underway with Milwaukee hosting the Dodgers in Game 1 tonight at 5:09 on FS1. Game 2 is tomorrow. Game 1 of the American League Championship Series is tomorrow at 5:09pm in Boston where the Red Sox welcome the Houston Astros.
