Panthers Win 8th of Season with 7-1 Victory

WENATCHEE, WA – The Wenatchee Panthers improved to 8-and-2 on the season with a big win over Cashmere last night in a makeup game in the Apple Bowl…
7-1 was the final. Wenatchee sits atop the Big 9 standings at 5-and-1 and will sit back and watch the rest of the league play tonight…
In fact, we’ll have Eastmont and Moses Lake tonight LIVE on the NCWLIFE Channel. The Wildcats are just behind Wenatchee in the standings at 4-and-1, tied with the Chiefs. Eric Granstrom and Matt Wisen will have the play-by-play beginning with the pregame at 6:50 right here on Channel 12 and 19.

Also today on the pitch, it’s Chelan hosting Cascade at 4 o’clock while Manson’s on the road at Oroville at 4:30.

Panthers Travel to West Valley for Volleyball Clash

In girls volleyball action today…
Cascade Christian is at Riverside Christian while Entiat’s at Moses Lake Christian at 5:30. Three matches have 6:30 start times with Manson hosting Liberty Bell; Tonasket’s at Waterville-Mansfield; and Cascade is in Chelan. Then at 7 o’clock, Eastmont’s at home hosting Davis while Wenatchee has the tough task of travelling to West Valley.

Speaking of volleyball, here’s what we have scheduled this week on the NCWLIFE Channel…
As we mentioned, its soccer tonight at 7 with Eastmont hosting Moses Lake. Then on Thursday, Wenatchee takes on Eisenhower at 7 with Eric Granstrom courtside along with LeAnne Branam. Then on Friday, Eric and Grant Olson will be at Lee Bofto Field in the Apple Bowl for Wenatchee and West Valley with the pregame at 6:45.

Lorenzo Cain’s RBI single broke a 1-1 tie in the 8th and Ryan Braun followed with a run-scoring single as Milwaukee claimed the N-L Central with a 3-1 win in Chicago. That puts the Cubs in a must-win Wild Card game today against Colorado as the Rockies fell to the Dodgers last night 5-2. Los Angeles was led by two, two-run home runs from Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy.

Stottlemeyer Out as Mariner’s Pitching Coach

Mel Stottlemeyer, Junior will not be back as the Mariner’s pitching coach next season….
The 54 year old is the only member of the eight-man coaching staff not being asked to return in the wake of Seattle’s 89-73 season in which its pitchers posted the 17th-best ERA out of the 30 Major League teams at 4.13.

“We’re going a different direction there,” Servais said. “Mel has been with me since I got the job, the last three years. I have a very close relationship with Mel. I just thought, with where we’re at currently and where we want to go forward, we’d go with a different voice and different direction there.”

Earl Thomas Confirmed to Suffer Broken Leg

Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll met with reporters Monday at the team’s facility in Renton and confirmed, Earl Thomas broke his leg in Sunday’s victory over Arizona…


Thomas was shown on Fox’s broadcast making an obscene gesture towards the Seahawk’s bench as he was carted off the field. Carroll was asked about it and said he can understand Thomas’ feelings, in that moment…

Tedric Thomas will take over the safety position for Thomas this week when Seattle hosts the L-A Rams Sunday at CenturyLink Field.
