Waterville man held in alleged threat on teen

WATERVILLE — Douglas County sheriff’s deputies say a 21-year-old man carried a shotgun while walking around town and threatened to kill a 15-year-old boy for sleeping with his wife.

Dylan L. O’Gara-Smith remained in the Okanogan County Jail on Tuesday, two days after he allegedly made a threatening phone call to the teen and walked the streets of Waterville with a 12-gauge pump shotgun. Deputies said they may also seek charges against his wife, age 20, for alleged sexual contact with the 15-year-old victim.

O’Gara-Smith allegedly phoned the teen at his home about 6:39 p.m. Sunday, saying he was en route to the boy’s home and threatening violence. Witnesses told deputies they saw O’Gara-Smith walking through town, shirtless and carrying a firearm.

Deputies found O’Gara-Smith at his own home, and said he admitted walking in public with the shotgun while carrying three shells in his pocket. Douglas County District Court Judge Eric Biggar ordered him held on $25,000 bond, for pending charges including felony harassment and reckless endangerment.
