Waterville man charged in shotgun threat


WATERVILLE — Douglas County prosecutors have formally charged a Waterville man who allegedly threatened to kill a teenage boy for sleeping with his wife.

Dylan O’Gara Smith, 21, was arrested Sunday after allegedly threatening the 15-year-old victim and walking through town with a shotgun. He’s charged with counts including second-degree assault, felony harassment, reckless endangerment. and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

Douglas County sheriff’s deputies said O’Gara-Smith propositioned the 15-year-old over the summer to join the couple in a sexual relationship, but became angry after the teen and his spouse had sexual contact while O’Gara-Smith was at work.

He’s held on $25,000 bond in the Okanogan County Jail. Deputies said his wife may face sex-offense charges for alleged sexual contact with a minor.
