Walton Hits Shot of the Year for Wenatchee

Panther's Junior Guard scores 25 to help Wenatchee beat Eastmont 62-48

WENATCHEE, WA – Wenatchee’s Skyler Walton may have hit the shot of the year on Friday during the Panther’s 62-48 win over Eastmont at the NCW Basketball Showcase.  Leading by seven as time wound down at the end of the third quarter, Walton chases down a loose ball in the right corner, grabs it and flings it towards the hoop as the buzzer sounds.  As she turned the ball loose, she was fouled on the play by Eastmont’s Britt Vaughn and knocked completely off the floor at the Town Toyota Center.  Amazingly, the ball went in and she was awarded an additional free throw, sinking it to complete the three point play.

The attached video shows the amazing shot and includes the call by KOHO Radio’s Ian Dunn and Mark Miller.  Walton finished with a game-high 25-points as Wenatchee improved to 3-and-5 with the win while Eastmont fell to 4-and-4.

In the boy’s game, Wenatchee downed Eastmont 55-35.
