Voters reject Chelan Schools Construction Bond

Voters in the Lake Chelan School District sent a resounding no to a 75.5 million dollar bond proposal that would have paid for a new high school and extensive renovations to the existing high school, the elementary school and the construction of new sports facilities.

Slightly over 57% of ballots counted in the three-county election rejected the proposal. A 60% yes vote was required for the measure to pass. Opponents of the proposal cited the flat enrollment numbers for the district didn’t require the adding of additional facilities.
