Video: Project bids for Douglas County evidence room much higher than projected

DOUGLAS COUNTY – It’s back to the drawing table for Douglas County’s plans to build a new Sheriff’s Department evidence room after all of the construction bids came in over budget. Commissioners say they’re going to wait until next Spring to try again.

Douglas County Commissioner, Steve Jenkins, says the lowest bid came in at 1.5 million dollars whereas the County Engineer priced the project out at about $900,000 dollars.

The evidence room is to be built near the campus of the County’s Transportation and Land Services building off 19th Street in the East Wenatchee area.
