WENATCHEE- According to a press release from the Wenatchee Police Department, the North Central Washington Special Investigations Unit has nearly completed interviews with all identified witnesses.
A thorough examination of all video evidence collected in this case is underway and has led to the identification of witnesses who have, for the most part, already been interviewed, according to Wenatchee Police.
The identities of additional potential witnesses seen on video are being confirmed.
An autopsy of suspect Matthew Folden was conducted on August 1, 2017 and confirmed his death was the result of gunshot wounds. Laboratory results are pending and some items, including toxicology, may take several weeks to complete. Test results will be published once the reports come back from the testing laboratories.
The Officer involved in the July 27, 2017 officer involved shooting which occurred in the Albertson’s parking lot has been identified as Officer Albert Gonzalez
Officer Gonzalez has been a Wenatchee Police Officer for two years and has four total years of experience as a law enforcement officer in the State of Washington. He is assigned to the Patrol Division and is a Drug Recognition Expert and Emergency Vehicle Operations Course instructor. Officer Gonzalez has been recognized for life-saving CPR in the field and also as the top DUI and Traffic Officer for the Wenatchee Police Department.

The investigation is moving forward. New information is being gained daily and examined by members of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU). Information will be updated regularly as it becomes available for release from SIU.
