There is a mix of good and concerning unemployment news for the Wenatchee Metro Statistical Area, or MSA.
Local monthly unemployment rates have crept upwards during the past nine months from December 2018 through August 2019, according to
the State Employment Security Department .
But rates this year have still been relatively low when compared with corresponding monthly rates during the past ten years.
The Wenatchee unemployment rate rose a full percentage point between August 2018 and 2019, from 4.0 to 5.0 percent.
But, rates this year have still been relatively low when compared with corresponding monthly rates during the past 10 years.
Year over year, monthly total nonfarm employment growth rates in the Wenatchee MSA have been less robust than the rest of the state.
That has held true during each of the past 11 months from October 2018 through August 2019.
