Two locals honored with Bucky Award for work on animal cruelty case


WENATCHEE- Since 2010, the Bucky Award has honored those who work hard to be the voice for the voiceless victims, and two locals were honored on Friday for their hard work on a winning a local case involving animal cruelty.

The honorees are Sergeant Sandra Larsen of the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society and Deputy Prosecutor Andrew Van Winkle of the Chelan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Van Winkle says that while it’s nice to be recognized in this case, it took many people spanning several years to complete the investigation. . .

Bucky award winners are selected by a panel of judges including a retired police chief, a veterinarian, a private investigator and other professionals. In addition to the award, Pasado’s safe haven also donates $2,500 to $5,000 to each individual winner to put toward continued animal cruelty training.
