The Foothills Middle School Robotics Club is fundraising for two teams as they prepare to compete at the World Championship in April.
“You’re a Robot, Harry” and “Somebody” qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky after competing at the state level at Central Washington University in February.
A few of the students joined Dan Kuntz on Wake Up Wenatchee Valley to talk about their achievements and how to donate:
The members of “You’re a Robot, Harry” include Alexa Dickmann, Miranda Nayak, Ella Gebers, Sophie Macon and Celia Kiesz. The team “Somebody” includes Caden Cummings, Tyler Reyes, Rylan Nelson and Tucker Ashmore.
Team “Somebody” qualified after placing third out of the 32 competitors. Team “You’re a Robot, Harry” qualified for Worlds after earning the state STEM Research Award for their STEM video.
The nine students are preparing for their trip to Louisville, where students from 400 middle school teams, including 36 countries, will compete.
Follow the team on Facebook for updates on fundraising opportunities such as the Pybus Benevolent night on April 10th. Donations can also be made directly to Foothills Middle School, and businesses interested in sponsorship can contact Coach Aaron Hansen directly at Hansen.A@Wenatcheeschools.org.
A parent also set up a GoFundMe page for additional fundraising to help cover the costs of airfare, ground transportation, meals and lodging.
The FMS Robotics Club will also be fundraising at the Wenatchee Wild game tonight for Chuck a Puck and the 50/50 raffle.
