Tsunami Advisory Lifted After Alaska Earthquake

KODIAK, AK-There were some anxious moments overnight for residents of Southeast Alaska after a 7.9 earthquake triggered a tsunami advisory.

The quake struck at around 1:30 this morning and was epicentered about 175 miles Southeast of Kodiak Island.

A tsunami watch was issued shortly after that but its since been cancelled. Officials with the City of Kodiac went live on Facebook to make that announcement.

There were no reports of any damage or injuries from the quake.
