Bike Build at Sangster Motors

Sangster Motors Hosts Bike Build for Toy Drive

WENATCHEE, WA – Sangster Motors hosted the Bike Build part of the Les Schwab Community Toy Drive over the weekend.  Between Saturday and Sunday, 130 bicycles and scooters were assembled on the lot at Sangster’s to go to children throughout the Wenatchee Valley this holiday season.

Corey, Chad and Casey Sangster were on-hand Sunday morning as the last nuts were tightened and sprockets tested.  They said they continue to be part of the Les Schwab Community Toy Drive because they’re all about the community.  “We’re all about giving back to the community.  Dad (Don) taught that to us.   Support the community and the people that support you and anything that we can do to help support we’re all in,” said Corey Sangster.

Sangster Boys Assembled Majority of Bikes Saturday

Sangster Motors crews rolled up their collective sleeves and assembled the majority of the bicycles, ranging from a 12-inch bike with training wheels all the way up to a 26-inch mountain bike, on Saturday night.  Volunteers from Cycle Central and the Wenatchee Valley Velo group were on-hand Sunday to tune and test the bikes to make sure they were safe.  In addition, Velo donated 100 helmets to go with the bicycles to make sure those receiving them can be safe.

“Wenatchee Valley Velo’s role is to provide the helmets.  We’re checking the bikes to make sure they’re race-ready.  But also to make sure those kids stay safe by having helmets,” said Wenatchee Valley Velo President Ace Bollinger.

Sangster’s “Happy to support those who support us”

Chad Sangster added, “After what happened last year and what’s happening this year, people are going want to get on board with this.  This is great for the community to help these people out.  My brothers and my Dad are just happy we can help do what we can do.”

Local non-profits on the receiving end of the Les Schwab Community Toy Drive are Serve Wenatchee Valley; CASA; Haven of Hope; the Bruce House; Children’s Home Society; and the Grace House.
