CHELAN COUNTY — An 11-year-old Yakima boy and two people from Seattle are dead after a Friday three-vehicle collision on Highway 97 north of the Blewett Pass summit.

Washington State Patrol troopers say motorist Marjorie A. Acevedo, 43, of Yakima faces possible charges of DUI and vehicular homicide in the crash, reported at 6:02 p.m. near milepost 170 in Chelan County. She was in critical condition after the accident and transported to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.

Killed in the wreck were Acevedo’s passenger, age 11, whose name was not disclosed by WSP; and two Seattle residents in a second vehicle, 19-year-old driver Majelia A. Delgado and her passenger Fermin A. Delgado, 63. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Acevedo, driving a 2005 Toyota Sequoia, was passing other vehicles heading north in the southbound lane when she collided head-on with Delgado’s 1997 Chevrolet pickup. The two vehicles then struck a third vehicle, a motor home traveling northbound, before coming to rest. No one onboard the third vehicle, driven by a 65-year-old Okanogan woman, was injured.

Acevedo appeared to be driving under the influence, troopers said. The wreck closed both lanes of Highway 97 until just after 1 a.m. Saturday for investigation and clearance.
