An art project almost four years in the making at Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort will be celebrated Saturday with a Release the Yeti ribbon cutting.
Since first being envisioned in 2016, the 11-foot metal Yeti has slowly taken shape.
A team of local artists, calling themselves Project Yeti, installed the Yeti high on the mountain in September with the idea it would take on different looks for the seasons.
It includes a heavy dose of chains, giving it a somewhat ominous look.
Sometimes, it resembles Bigfoot and other times, when frosted over, it looks more like The Abominable Snowman.
The Release the Yeti celebration begins at noon and is open to the public but you’ll need a lift ticket to access the site.
Later, there will be an informal toast to the Yeti at the lodge.
