Mariners Commit 3 Errors and are Swept by Padres

The Mariners kicked the ball around behind Wade LeBlanc, committing three errors, en route to a 5-4 loss to the San Diego Padres yesterday at Safeco field…
MARINERS
LeBlanc allowed only four hits in five innings, two of which were home runs following errors, so only 2-runs were earned.

The loss meant a season-sweep to the Padres, the second-worst team in the entire National League. The loss also means Seattle has been passed by Tampa Bay in the chase of Oakland for the final Wild Card playoff spot.

Manager Scott Servais said the miscues are a lack of focus and with the playoffs really not in view anymore, he’s challenging the pride of each player to step up…

Seattle is in Los Angeles tonight for the first of four games at 7:07 with Mike Leake facing Odrisamer Despaigne.

On the Les Schwab Scoreboard in the American League West last night…
AL WEST
Oakland bombed Baltimore 10-nothing. Houston dialed in Detroit 5-4. And the Angels beat Texas 8-1. Seattle trails Oakland by 9-and-a-half games with 17 left to play. 
