WENATCHEE- The weather forecast calling for cool, dry, stagnant air has prompted the Washington State Department of Ecology to issue a Stage 1 burn ban beginning this Monday, December 4th at 9 a.m. through 9 a.m. Wednesday, December 6th.

Included in this ban is all outdoor burning and use of uncertified stoves and fireplaces will be prohibited in Chelan, Douglas, Kittitas and Okanogan Counties due to expected poor air quality throughout the region.

The Stage 1 ban prohibits all outdoor burning including residential, agricultural and forest burning. Use of any wood-burning devices are prohibited unless they are a home’s only adequate source of heat. Fine particles from wood smoke can get into people’s lungs causing possible heart and breathing problems.
