Local prep teams now know their regional fates

WENATCHEE, WA – We finally know the matchups, game times and locations for the regional basketball tournaments this weekend…
PREPSCHED-A
The Wenatchee boys, a #12 seed, will face 13th seeded Mt. Rainier Saturday at Ellensburg High School at 4 o’clock. The winner will advance to take on the loser of Richland and Mount Si in the first round of the State 4A Tournament in the Tacoma Dome next Wednesday at 12:15pm.

Cashmere boys will face Zillah at Davis Saturday

Turning to the 1A boys tournament…

The #6 seed Cashmere Bulldogs face the #3 seed Zillah Leopards Saturday at 6pm at Davis High School. Both teams will advance to State with the winner getting a first-round bye at State until Thursday. The loser will have play the winner of Cascade Christian and Royal Wednesday in the SunDome at 3:45.

Cashmere and Entiat girls to play close to home Friday

On the girl’s side of the regional tournament…

Both Cashmere and Entiat will play at Wenatchee High School Friday night. The first game at 6 features the #4 seed Bulldogs against the #5 seeded Elma Eagles. The winner gets a first-round bye at State while the loser will face the winner of King’s Way Christian and Medical Lake Wednesday in the SunDome at 2 o’clock.

The 8pm game at Wenatchee High Friday night features the #11 seed Entiat girls against the #14 seed Inchelium. The winner advances to State B in Spokane and plays against the loser of Friday’s game between Sunnyside Christian and Almira-Coulee-Hartline. That would be next Wednesday at 9am in Veteran’s Memorial Arena.

Brewster boys and girls to play regionals at Eastmont

The Brewster boys and girls will both play at Eastmont High School in their Regional Saturday…

The Bear boys will play first at 6 o’clock against Toutle Lake in a seeding game for the State 2B Tournament. The winner gets a first-round bye while the loser will face the winner of Kalama and Friday Harbor. The Brewster girls will follow at 8 o’clock against Mabton in a loser-out game. The winner will have a first-round date in the Rainier and Wahkiakum in Spokane.

Wenatchee’s Long and Eastmont’s Wellborn 1st Teamers

With the season winter sports seasons winding down, the Columbia Basin Big Nine is out with their all-league selections…
Big 9 Boys All League
1st team honors go to Wenatchee’s Garrett Long and Eastmont’s Isaac Wellborn. 2nd teamers for the Panthers are Nate Blauman and Darius Carlson. Eastmont teammates Oscar Calvillo and Trey Haberlock are honorable mentions.
Big 9 Boys All Defense
The Big 9 also names an all-defensive squad. The All Defense Team includes Wenatchee’s Chase Loidhamer and Nate Blauman along with Eastmont’s Tanner Nelson. Defensive honorable mentions go out to Wenatchee’s JJ Jelsing and Eastmont’s Oscar Calvillo and Isaac Wellborn.
