Wenatchee tops Bellingham 5-2

Altenberger now has three home runs on the season. Kodie Kolden went 2-for-5 in the game with a run and RBI. And on the mound, Gavin Gorrell improved to 3-and-2 on the season with the victory, going 5-and-two-thirds innings and allowing 2-runs on 3-hits with 2-strikeouts and 3-walks.
Joel tells us he’ll be down in Bend for tonight’s home run derby as well as tomorrow’s All-Star game, so we’ll be getting reports on how the boys do.

Yakima Valley pounded out 22-hits in its 12-4 win over Victoria. The Pippins were led by Kyle Dean, who went 3-for-5 with 4-RBI’s as Yakima Valley salvaged the final game of the weekend series.

Port Angeles scored 4 in the 1st and 3 in the third and held on for an 8-6 win over Kelowna. Matthew Christian hit his 9th homer of the summer for the Lefties and was 3-for-4 with 4-RBI’s.

Michael Dixon’s walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th scored Nick Yovetich and Corvallis came back to beat Walla Walla 3-2. The win completed a three-game sweep by the Knights of the Sweets in the weekend series.

Cowlitz completed a three-game weekend sweep of Bend with Sunday’s 4-3 win. The Black Bears are now 18-and-21 on the season, trying to keep pace with Corvallis and Portland in the Southern Division second-half standings.

Kyle Velazquez was 4-for-5 with 5-RBI’s to lead Portland to a 12-3 win over Ridgefield. The Pickles improved to 7-and-1 in the second-half of the season.

Victoria is back in first place at 9-and-4. The AppleSox are a half-game back at 8-and-4. Yakima Valley is 7-and-6, 2-games back. Port Angeles sits in 4th place at 6-and-6. Bellingham is 3-and-8 while Kelowna is 3-and-9.

Kikuchi struggles again in loss

Yusei Kikuchi lost yet again for the Mariner Sunday in a 9-3 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels…

Angels beat Mariners 9-3

Kikuchi gave up another two home runs as the Angels hit four on the day as he went 5-innings, allowing 7-runs on 9-hits with 3-strikeouts and 1-walk. Kikuchi’s ERA is 5.37 on the season now.

Dee Gordon went 3-for-4 at the bottom of the lineup for Seattle as the Mariners stranded 12 runners on the base paths.

The Mariners welcome Texas into town tonight for the first of three games with Adrian Sampson will go up against Marco Gonzales.

Kamloops, B.C.’s Jim White won the West Coast Vintage Racers main. And the Economy Midget finale went to Shoreline’s Hannah Lindquist.
