(East Wenatchee, WA)…A record rainfall in the valley this month has forced Eastmont to make some changes to its sports schedule this week. NCWLIFE Channel Sports Director Eric Granstrom visited with Eastmont Athletic Director/Assistant Principal Russ Waterman about the issues:
Natural grass and too much rain means a muddy track for Eastmont’s main football and soccer field. Athletic Director Russ Waterman says that means a change of plans for this week. “We went out and looked at the field…on Wednesday and it was a pretty sloppy track…So we moved the JV (soccer game) over to another field, and we moved the freshman football game back down to the Jr. High School so the varsity soccer team and varsity football team would have a better field to play on.”
Waterman says they’ll re look at things prior to next week’s football schedule, “we’ll make an assessment of the field early next week, because we’re scheduled to have that freshman game against Sunnyside to be part of that doubleheader for that Friday.”
Waterman says the field has been used quite a bit this fall, which worked better when the weather was good, “we had to address some issues with the surface so we limited access to the competition field. So this is the first year that we really started to bring back that freshman game and get that freshman feel on the stadium. It worked well this year when the field was dryer.”
NCWLIFE Channel will be broadcast Friday’s Bridge of Sportsmanship varsity football game LIVE with Eric Granstrom and Grant Olson with kickoff at 7 o’clock. Waterman said to remind fans that pre-sale tickets are available at both school’s ASB Offices.
