A three-car chain collision Saturday evening between Moses Lake and Ephrata resulted in a Soap Lake man being hospitalized.

The Washington State Patrol says that at around 5:15 p.m. on Highway 17 at milepost 66, a 2018 Ford F550 pickup being driven by 63-year old Robert R Heether of Ephrata was driving northbound when he failed to yield and struck a 2020 Toyota Corolla, which in turn struck a 2021 Toyota Sienna passenger van.

The driver of the Corolla – 35-year old Eric J Espinoza of Soap Lake – was transported to Samaritian Hospital in Moses Lake with unknown injuries.

None of the five occupants of the Sienna were injured.

Heether faces charges of failing to yield the right of way.
