A sinkhole at the bottom of Grant Road in East Wenatchee is creating a traffic headache for motorists that will continue through next week.

The sinkhole was first reported Wednesday night and by Thursday morning the State Route 28 exit onto Grant Road and the center and right lanes of Grant Road heading east were also shut down.

The city of East Wenatchee’s Public Works Department plans on starting repairs next Monday that could last until Friday, June 11.

Until then, access to Hobby Lobby and Wendy’s is available by a temporary turn-around in the Fred Meyer parking lot and then turning right onto Riverside Drive.

The Link Transit bus stop in the Fred Meyer parking lot is also closed until the repairs can be made.
