A section of South Wenatchee Avenue was shut down Tuesday after a large sinkhole developed Monday afternoon.
Rains from last week’s thunderstorm apparently created a washout that caused the sinkhole.
The sinkhole, near Boodry Street, is about 10 feet in diameter, said the Chelan County Public Works Department.
South Wenatchee Avenue is closed after Boodry Street and before the South Wenatchee Avenue bridge. A detour route has been marked.
The county said it is unclear when that portion of the roadway will reopen.
