Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett has been appointed to the Board of Commissioners of the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.

The commission develops and implements training standards and programs for law enforcement personnel and related fields. Those standards also involve physical, mental and moral fitness for recruiting criminal justice employees.

Burnett was appointed to the six-year term by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee. He is one of two sheriffs on the commission, joining police chiefs, officers, correctional system workers, prosecutors and others in the criminal justice system.

Burnett said he is honored to be appointed and he hopes his time on the commission, which meets quarterly, will be beneficial to both the state and county.
