CLE ELUM – Early this morning on Interstate 90 near Cle Elum, a semi-truck crashed on a bridge, blocking westbound traffic.
Washington State Patrol says the Freightliner, driven by 47-year old Cory Weaver of Utah, was traveling west on I-90 when he attempted to slow down and lost control on slippery road conditions causing it to go sideways on a bridge.
The truck struck the left side of the bridge and the trailer hit the right side with its wheels hanging over the edge. The wreckage blocked the westbound lanes for several hours after the truck tore out a section of guardrail.
Weaver was injured in the crash and was transported by ambulance to Kittitas Valley Healthcare in Ellensburg. Weaver was also charged with driving too fast for the icy road conditions.
