SEATTLE – Earlier today in Seattle, re-elected Seattle City Council member Lorena González and newly elected Council member Teresa Mosqueda invited Wenatchee High School’s Mariachi Huenachi to perform at their inauguration ceremony.
Councilmember González was the first ever-elected Latina to the Seattle City Council in 2015. Mosqueda, also Latina, is joining a council that has become increasingly diverse over the past two years.
Mosqueda said, “This year, instead of the traditional ceremony, we would be honored to be able to walk into the inauguration ceremony following members of the Mariachi Huenachi to celebrate our heritage and these important policy-making positions that we’ve won.”
Mariachi Director Ramon Rivera said the group was very excited to be part of the historical event.
