The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to be on the lookout for a bronze statue that was stolen early Tuesday morning from a roadside prayer chapel.

The cowboy and horse statue, about 3-feet-high, was taken about 3:30 a.m. outside Creston at the intersection of Highway 2 and Red Wine Canyon Road.

The statue was a family gift to famed rodeo bronc rider Deb Copenhaver who died in 2019. It has been outside the chapel for about 10 years, The Spokesman-Review reported.

The bronze statue was sculpted by Copenhaver’s daughter, Deborah Copenhaver Fellows, who is well known for several pieces she created, including a statue of former presidential candidate Barry Goldwater that is featured in Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol.
