CHELAN- The search in Lake Chelan for missing University of Washington (UW) student Donghoon Lee continued Thursday, June 29, 2017.
Lee, a 23-year-old man, remains missing and presumed drowned after disappearing on Lake Chelan while boating with two friends Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Lee was from South Korea studying at the UW on a student visa.
Sergeant Rob Huddleston and Marine Patrol Deputy Ryan Moody with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office searched the shoreline between the Lookout development and Lakeside Park on Thursday.
Lee, who was not wearing a life jacket at the time of his disappearance, was reported to be wearing a red button-up shirt. Officials are hopeful that the bright color of the shirt will help in location efforts.
Sgt. Huddleston reports that a helicopter will return on Thursday to continue aiding in the search for Lee.
“I spoke with his [Lee’s] dad, and he was really appreciative of the resources we have used to try and find his son,” Huddleston stated. “The one thing he asked was that we don’t stop looking.”
