Search and Rescue training

Chelan County Volunteer Search and Rescue took to the hills Saturday to practice some of their rescue techniques.

New and seasoned volunteers spent most of the morning and afternoon near the Saddlerock trailhead in Wenatchee for training that included mock evidence and searches, litter handling, radio communications and wilderness navigation using compasses and GPS devices.

The training also included Chelan County Emergency Management officials and dog teams. Based in Wenatchee, Chelan County Volunteer Search and Rescue responds to dozens of missing and injured person calls in backcountry and recreation areas in the region.
