ENTIAT — Two rural Entiat residents face possible charges of assault after a confrontation with a deer hunter near their property.

Jesse Lee Jones in 2008.

Chelan County sheriff’s deputies say the hunter was scouting Tuesday on Crum Canyon Road when Donna Jean Jones, who’s 64, and her 41-year-old son Jesse Lee Jones threatened to shoot him. The two allegedly told the hunter he was trespassing even though he was on the public road, and blocked his efforts to drive away.

Jesse Jones allegedly displayed a knife, and Donna Jean Jones is accused of pointing a Derringer pistol at the hunter, after he drew his own handgun to defend himself.

The hunter left and called deputies, who arrested the pair. Both remained in the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on Wednesday morning. No charges have yet been filed.
