Report: No spike in crime after cannabis legalization

Researchers at Washington State University found that crime rates in the state have not changed significantly after the legalization of marijuana.

The new study looked at Washington and Colorado before and after those states decriminalized cannabis, and compared 20 years of crime data. It found that crime in legal weed states was no greater than in 21 other states where cannabis production and possession is still outlawed.

The research is due to be published in the journal Justice Quarterly.
