Rep. Newhouse will be in Okanogan County to talk about COVID-19 and wildfires


Rep. Dan Newhouse will have a full day of meetings and tours with officials from Okanogan County this Monday, Oct. 26.

First at 1 p.m., he will host a meeting at Mid Valley Hospital in Omak with healthcare officials and hospital administrators from Okanogan County to discuss their ongoing efforts to combat COVID-19 and increase access to care.

Then at 2:30 he will host a wildfire recovery roundtable at the Elks Club in Omak with law enforcement, first responders, emergency management staff, local officials, tribes, and community leaders to discuss recovery efforts for the recent wildfires as well as preventative measures.

Newhouse will then end his day at 3:45 with a tour of the Cold Springs Fire damage alongside Okanogan County Sheriff Tony Hawley.

They will drive through the damage, including the Omak Mill, and end at a nearby ranch surrounded by burn damage.
