Remorseful hit-and-run motorist gets home-monitoring sentence

WENATCHEE — An Ardenvoir motorist who struck and injured another driver on the Entiat River Road last fall earned a sentence Monday of more than two months on home monitoring.

Hoang Tuan Tran, 48, was driving in the wrong lane Nov. 17 when he struck the other car, injuring the 82-year-old man behind the wheel. Tran then walked away from the accident scene and went home, before sheriff’s deputies arrived.

He pleaded guilty in Chelan County Superior Court on Monday to a charge of felony hit and run, and apologized to the victim. Judge Kristin Ferrera gave him credit for 20 days already spent in jail after his arrest, assigning him to two months plus 10 days on electronic home monitoring.
