Christian Vazquez’s solo home run in the 4th inning proved to be the difference as the Yankees made a comeback bid in the 9th, scoring two before the final out was recorded on a tough play by Red Sox third baseman Edwardo Nunez. New York challenged the play but was ruled an out to send Boston to the ALCS against Houston beginning Saturday.

The National League Championship Series begins Friday in Milwaukee with the Brewers hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Kate Springer with Hat Trick as Panthers Down Davis

The Wenatchee Panthers hosted the Davis Pirates in a Big 9 soccer match at Lee Bofto Field at the Apple Bowl last night and made little doubt that they’d hold on to first place in league. Wenatchee scored just 4-and-a-half minutes into the contest and was on the run from there, winning 5-nil.

Eastmont kept pace with Wenatchee by traveling to Eisenhower and coming away with a 2-1 victory. The Panthers are in first place at 7-and-1 while the Wildcats are in 2nd at 6-and-2. In other soccer last night, Cascade cruised past Chelan 6-nil. Cashmere crushed Omak 14-nil. And Liberty Bell bombed Manson 8-1.

Eastmont Gets 3-1 Win on Road at Moses Lake

Eastmont travelled to Moses Lake and blanked the home team 3-games-to-none. Chelan edged Cascade in a stem-winder 3-to-2.
Here’s a photo of some of the action last night in Cashmere, thanks to Charlie Brown as we see freshman Payton Heyen going up high for the kill. The Bulldogs earned a 3-1 victory over Omak.   And it went to 5 in Waterville last night where the Shockers eventually fell to Liberty Bell 3-2.
