QUINCY – Noel Cardenas of Quincy was sentenced this week to more than 35 years in prison for the 2017 shooting death of 17-year-old Jahleel Munnings.

Cardenas, now 19, had previously pleaded guilty in Grant County Superior Court to shooting Munnings and his friend Luis Nava Trujillo, who survived a wound to his shoulder.

Cardenas shot the two teens Feb. 25, 2017 with a rifle in a Quincy alley between I Street Northwest and J Street Northwest. He was arrested weeks later in George.
